Story

Nathan and his family are very close to my heart, I have known Jenni, his Mum since school, and I first saw Nathan at a couple of days old, I can still see him and Jenni, his mum in the side room, at the RSH, I was privileged to look after Nathan a few times when he was little, I still recall bouncing him in his rocker to squeals of delight!

I was asked to be Nathans God Mother, a role I very much loved, as Nathan got older, spending time with him got more difficult, but we caught up at birthdays, family gatherings, including a very special Christmas Eve in Church,  despite this throughout the years Nathan was never far from my thoughts, I talked about him always! ask anyone.

I visited Nathan at Hope House, while he was having respite, we blew bubbles, played music and laughed! The staff were so kind and helpful, putting me and my young daughter at ease
We had a wonderful trip to sea life and the ice cream farm, and I saw first hand the challenges faced by his mum, a trip to Liverpool for a dental check was quiet an eye opener too!

Then in 2016 when I got back from Florida, it was to find Nathan in RSH, during his stay I was fortunate to help with the visiting rotations so he always had someone with him, we read stories, played music, we listened to Abbie chatting and making him laugh as he got stronger, well, strong enough to go home.

Lastly, I saw him in the Snowflake suite at Hope House, a time so precious it will never be forgotten it was here the tears flowed freely and the memories began, the what ifs, the should haves the could haves, after which his funeral, the wake, so many people. So many photos and great memories shared. I am blessed to have been a part of his life.

This is why I am walking, raising much needed funds, for Hope House, to say Thank you, for being there for Nathan and his family, and to thank Nathans family allowing me to make such wonderful memories of a remarkable young man.
